  3. Within Zilker Park's 358 acres lies one of the crown jewels of Austin - Barton Springs Pool. The pool itself measures three acres in size, and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming. Over the years, Barton Springs Pool has drawn people from all walks of life, from legislators who have concocted state laws there to free-spirited, topless sunbathers who turned heads in the 1970s. Robert Redford learned to swim at the pool when he was five years old while visiting family in Austin. Today, Barton Springs still attracts a diverse crowd of people and has seen record setting numbers of visitors nearing 800,000 in recent years. The Springs serves as home to the endangered Barton Springs Salamander, and is listed as a federally protected habitat. The pool is closed to the public from 9a-7p every Thursday to allow for the vigorous and methodical cleaning methods required to help maintain the pool area for wildlife and guests alike. Depths of the pool range from 0’ to 18' with surrounding grassy areas for patrons to lounge upon. Adjacent to the pool bathhouse is Splash!, an educational exhibit where patrons can learn about the history and biology of Barton Springs and the Edwards Aquifer which feeds it. Learn More
  4. Circuit of The Americas is the premier destination for world-class motorsports and entertainment in the United States. Set on 1,500 acres in the rolling hills just outside downtown Austin, Circuit of The Americas has hosted the biggest names in racing, action sports and music since 2012. At its heart is a 3.41-mile racetrack that was designed to challenge the world's most exacting competitors while providing a thrilling spectacle for audiences. The 20-turn, counterclockwise circuit takes advantage of the naturally undulating landscape, including an intimidating 133-foot hill at Turn 1 that must be seen in person to be believed. It is home to the only Formula 1 and MotoGP races in the country — the UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX and Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas — and has played host to ESPN's X Games, the FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Pirelli World Challenge and more. Nestled within the track is Germania Insurance Amphitheater, the largest permanent outdoor amphitheater in Central Texas, and its 251-foot signature observation tower. "John's innovative approach and winning attitude toward his objectives are refreshing and energizing. His leadership experience serves him, his reports and his clients well with a perfect balance of knowledge, clear thinking, and firm objectives. He is an expert at proper communication and process to meet the needs of his team and clients while maintaining an appropriate level of empathy and understanding to challenges that are presented while finding creative ways to overcome."

- Gary Massetti-WESCO

"John is a great leader, with a style can be described as “passionate”. We had an opportunity to work together for 5 years as business partners on a large customer project. His project management skills ensured timely and accurate product and service projects; his people skills bridged the gap for all levels of management and staff; his consultative knowledge skills provided the right business solutions; his forward thinking skills provided solutions that would continue to provide benefit for the customer; and his leadership skills provided all with a focused direction for the project."

- BJ Williams-WW Grainger

"John is an amazing leader with the right balance of authority and approachability. He provides strong and clear directions to subordinates and leads teams to continuous success. He works tirelessly to exceed goals and expectations and fully devoted to bigger causes. He is a truly result-oriented powerhouse, driving businesses to new highs. "

- Chelsea (Chen) Palmer-Meta

"John was an "effects-based" performer and leader who not only made sure the short-term goals were met, but who also had a strategic vision of where the unit was going. For example, as we introduced a $9 million simulator system, John was the one who made sure it was quickly integrated and operational - but he also saw the vision of what more we could do with the system. He understood the second and third stage order of effects and was responsible for the success of the unit. The USAF lost a great leader and mentor when he left the service. "

- Colonel Eddie Boxx-USAF

Catch The Sunset At The Oasis on Lake Travis

Okay, this restaurant 450 feet above the lake has it’s own Wikipedia page and a 4 story parking garage. It’s hard to argue Beau Theriot’s “Sunset Capital of Texas” with its terraced views looking west over Lake Travis isn’t the lake’s most famous venue. The 30,000 square foot restaurant sits on a bluff 450 feet above the lake and is the largest outdoor restaurant in Texas. Built in 1982 by Houston entrepreneur Beau Theriot, who purchased a 500-acre ranch overlooking the lake and converted it into the current multi-use venue, The Oasis has been thrilling visitors near and far with amazing sunset’s over the lake for over 25 years.
